Pooh at the North Carolina Georgia Border.
Today's 'unshaven'.
The hostel last night was really great! I got a foot soak and a decent nights sleep. This morning they fed me scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast! I resupplied my candy bars while I was there and got an extra canister of fuel for my stove, just to make sure. Then they drove me to where I left the trail and dropped me back off. It was an awesome stay!
While at the hostel, the owner talked to me about hiking the AT. He talked about hiking your own hike but taking time to stop and see things, so I tried to do that today. I saw a bunch of beautiful flowers and many milestones (different areas I passed). But he so told me about resupplying in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and the difficulty in it. So, now I'm in planning mode. I should be passing by Franklin, NC within the next couple of days, but I don't think I'm going to stop. I'm not sure exactly how many days that puts me out of GSMNP, but I have to call back and talk to Jeff about it, because it could be a good spot for a zero day. I have much more thought to put into it and input I must solicit.
Today's hike saw me as the first blazer, which meant that I got to clear out all of the spider webs--many of them across my face. I wasn't happy about that, but someone had to do it. My socks were covered in spider webs, and I spent a good portion of the morning wiping webs off my nose and ears. But, I managed to make it about 15 miles today, looking at 16 tomorrow. We'll see tomorrow.
Anyway, it's cold tonight, so I'm going to snuggle into my sleeping bag. This won't go out until tomorrow, due to lack of signal.
