Standing Indian Shelter to Long Branch Shelter (6/3/12)

Pooh and me at the top of Albert Mountain...what a view!

Today was another long hiking day, about 16 miles. I finally got blisters today, I think because my socks were still wet. It got cold and damp last night, so nothing seemed to dry. So, I paid for it with my blisters today.

I think tomorrow is going to be a zero day in Franklin, NC. Depending on how everything goes, I may take a couple of zero days in Franklin. We'll have to wait and see. I'll know more tomorrow.

I met some more people on the trail today, Hope and Owl. I met Hope at the top of Albert Mountain, she was the one who took the picture above. She and Owl are doing a little hiking through the area. They are really nice and Hope even have me a couple of blister pads for my blisters.  I'll have to stop in Franklin and get some Moleskin (since I foolishly forgot to bring some with me).

As I was walking today, the trail opened up into a little meadow surrounded by all kinds of flowering trees, shrubs and plants! It was beautiful! I don't think the picture does it justice because of the sunlight, but here's the picture:

Yesterday's milestone was reaching the Georgia/North Carolina border. Today's milestone was passing the 100 mile point. Yahoo! Only 2000 miles to go!

That about sums it up for today. I'm in the shelter with Hope, Hope's dog Nick, Owl, Goose and Rat.  Hopefully I'll get this out tomorrow.  Connectivity in Southern North Carolina leaves a lot to be desired.
