View from Cheoah Bald.
Interesting hike today, many uphills that weren't as bad as yesterday, but still pretty bad! We met some new people today, Mary and Scott from Iowa. Thus are doing a section hike. As we were sitting at the shelter at the end of today, another thru hiker came up, Haley, from Seattle.
We got to the to of Cheoah Bald today and the view was just phenomenal! The fog in the valley just made my day, and had my mind turning on things to write about it. It truly was a spectacular sight, one of the best I've seen on the trail.
Tomorrow we head in to Fontana Dam, which means the next day I will begin the trek through Great Smoky Mountain National Park. I'm looking forward to getting there and getting through that part of the trail. Sadly, I will be splitting up from Hope and King Nickie, so I lose a hiking partner. Whether or not I'll find another one remains to be seen. Maybe I will, maybe I won't. But Hope and Nickie have been awesome partners! I will be sad when we split up.
Not too much to report right now, getting ready for bed, once again without phone signal. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to charge my phone, get this entry out and write another one.
